Fortum to start collaboration with three national organisations

Fortum is supporting the operational continuity of three key Finnish organisations through this exceptional time of the coronavirus pandemic. Fortum has signed a collaboration agreement with the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare, the Finnish Association for the Welfare of Older People, and the Central Association of Mental Health for the years 2020-2021. Under the agreement, the organisations will receive a total of 150,000 euros from Fortum. 

Fortum recognises the extremely valuable long-term work that these organisations do. However, the exceptional global situation arising from the coronavirus pandemic has created an added need for services and help. By donating 50,000 euros to each organisation, Fortum wants to contribute to their ability to continue providing assistance to those in need. 

“Our collaboration organisations have decades of experience in helping people and an extensive network to reach those in need of help around the country. Our selected partners will use these relief funds to help needy children and their families, young people at risk of social marginalisation, and elderly people alone at home. Mannerheim League for Child Welfare 

The Mannerheim League for Child Wellfare is the largest child welfare organization in Finland. It has 86 000 members and 547 local associations throughout the country. With 29 000 active volunteers it promotes the wellbeing of children and families and increases respect for childhood. 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the League.

The Finnish Association for the Welfare of Older People
VTKL - The Finnish Association for the Welfare of Older People is the largest organisation working with older people in Finland. Through its activities and member associations, VTKL reaches hundreds of thousands of older people nationwide. The purpose of the union is to promote the well-being, functional capacity and social security of the elderly. VTKL was established in 1949.

Central Association for Mental Health
The Finnish Central Association for Mental Health is a support and advocacy organisation promoting the rights of people living with and recovering from mental health problems. The Association represents and voices the concerns and needs of people with psychiatric problems at local and national level. Finnish Central Association for Mental Health was established in 1971.
