Dr. John Patrick Bailey Joins Foundation Center as Director of Cleveland Office
New York, NY — July 15, 2014. New York City-based Foundation Center, the leading authority on philanthropy, has announced the appointment of John Patrick Bailey, Ph.D., as director of its regional office in Cleveland, effective June 2, 2014. Dr. Bailey is a seasoned leader with extensive operational and organizational management experience in the social sector. He joins Foundation Center's Social Sector Outreach division, which connects nonprofits to the resources they need to thrive through a variety of in-person and online offerings.
Foundation Center's mission is to strengthen the social sector by advancing knowledge about philanthropy. It maintains regional library/learning centers in Atlanta, Cleveland, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. As the director of its Cleveland office, Dr. Bailey is overseeing Foundation Center activities that continue a rich history of service to the region since 1977. Programming onsite, online, and throughout the community provides nonprofit professionals with free access to high-quality resources, knowledge, and professional development opportunities.
"John's expertise in strategic planning, partnership development, and diversification of revenue streams makes him ideally qualified to help social sector organizations grow their capacity and their funding and increase their impact," said Zohra Zori, vice president for social sector outreach at Foundation Center.

Dr. Bailey has previously served as the executive director of HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura in Westlake Village, California, where he oversaw the funding and management of capital projects to build and renovate shelters for the transitionally homeless. He was also executive director of the Los Angeles County Library Foundation where he led the creation of a system-wide network of library-based homework and literacy centers. Additionally, he has been assistant scholar at the University of Florida, administrative team leader at Spring Garden Waldorf School, and development director at Linking Employment Abilities and Potential (LEAP) Cleveland.
Dr. Bailey earned a Ph.D. in education from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, an M.A. in political science from the American University in Washington, DC, and a B.A. in political science from the Ohio State University.
