Fouriertransform invests SEK 25 million in ÅAC Microtec AB
Uppsala-based ÅAC Microtec AB receives expansion capital to boost sales of their world leading microelectronics systems to aerospace- and industrial customers with very high technical requirements.
ÅAC Microtec AB (ÅAC) globally provides high value space solutions and systems for commercial, governmental and educational customers through its partner network and office in Uppsala, Sweden. ÅAC has a unique competence and capacity to develop and manufacture robust, miniaturized multi-functional electronics systems. The company is today a core development partner in leading programs to launch new, smaller satellites. Based on its advanced position in these programs, ÅAC’s ambition is to further strengthen its position as a strategic supplier for the growing aerospace industry.
Customers include the European Space Agency (ESA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), the Swedish National Space Board (SNSB), as well as leading industrial groups now using ÅAC’s products and technology in innovative products and applications.
Originally called Ångström Aerospace Corporation (ÅAC), the company was founded in 2005 as a spin-off from the Ångström Laboratory of Uppsala University, which very early pioneered research into micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS).
“ÅAC Microtec is a world leader in miniaturized electronic components and systems for spacecraft operating in the most extreme environments and has an impressive list of global development customers. Our investment will enable ÅAC to continue the commercialization in this demanding segment, i.e. aerospace, but also to address new, industrial segments with its innovations,” says Fouriertransform CEO, Per Nordberg.
“This is a major milestone in the relatively short history of our company. We are extremely happy to have such a respected and renowned company as Fouriertransform investing in our company. Their long-term approach and engagement will enable us to take our business to a new level. We will have continued focus on product- and technology development, broaden our marketing and the quality and professionalism with which we conduct business with our customers and partners”, says ÅAC Microtec CEO, Björn Åstrand.
“We are very happy to have Fouriertransform as an owner of ÅAC. We look forward to accelerate the market expansion through a broader range of flight-proven products and better market presence in Europe, North America and Asia”, says Johan Bäcke, Managing Partner at RP Ventures, which is one of the main owners in ÅAC.
