Release date:  03 February 2016

International transport and logistics company GEFCO UK has signed a six year contract hire deal with commercial vehicle fleet services provider Fraikin for the supply and maintenance of 10 new car and van transporters.

The new contract is a further extension of the long term relationship between the two companies, which sees Fraikin providing fleet services to GEFCO in France, Poland, Switzerland and now the UK.

Each of the new 44-tonne DAF CF trucks and Rolfo tri-axle trailers has been supplied by Fraikin on full service contract which includes all servicing, maintenance and repairs, road fund licencing, six-weekly safety inspections, annual MOT testing, tyre management and 24/7 roadside assistance, delivering complete peace of mind.

GEFCO UK Finished Vehicles Logistics Director John Stocker says: “We are delighted with our 10 new transporters supplied and delivered by Fraikin to GEFCO Sheerness. We are also thrilled with the extension of the existing GEFCO/Fraikin European relationship and their continued support throughout this process.

“We chose Fraikin to supply our vehicles because they were able to offer the service to support the complex needs of the vehicle transporter market, their ability to meet our precise Euro VI vehicle specification requirements and the strength of their extensive maintenance network.”

Also key to securing the deal was Fraikin’s proven skills in delivering expert local support to some of the biggest commercial vehicle fleet operators in the UK, with the contract structured to maximise GEFCO UK’s fleet uptime, vehicle safety and legal compliance.

GEFCO UK is also able to access real-time information on the fleet through Fraikin View – a web portal for Fraikin customers which provides key management information about the availability and compliance of their vehicles. The system allows customers to report vehicle defects online, access a vehicle’s full service history and monitor the up-to-the-minute progress of vehicle breakdowns. It also lists planned maintenance work, helping customers to optimise fleet scheduling, and hosts important vehicle documentation and fleet information to aid compliance.

The customer’s decision to acquire the new vehicles on contract hire allows it to know precisely what each new asset will cost over the full six year term. When the contract concludes in 2022, the vehicles will be returned to Fraikin, meaning GEFCO UK has none of the hassles typically associated with disposing of specialist commercial vehicles and trailers.

As part of the biggest private integrated transport and logistics network in Europe, GEFCO provides a range of services to, amongst others, the automotive, retail and electronic industries. GEFCO has more than 150 depots throughout Europe, including 10 in the UK.
