documenta14 and anniversary in Kassel
This summer, the fairy-tale city of Kassel will be booming with great events. Two of the highlights are the world-famous art exhibition documenta14, the 14thof its kind, which only takes place once every five years, and the 300-year anniversary of the Hercules monument. documenta14, one of the most significant exhibitions of contemporary art worldwide, will open on June 10, 2017, and run until September 17, 2017. The Hercules celebration will take place at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a magnificent park that is home to an eight-meter statue of the city’s hero. Additionally, there will be an exhibition of Hercules iconography in the Wilhelmshöhe Castle from March 31 to October 8, 2017, including graphics, statues and paintings.
Hesse’s biggest farmers’ market in Hanau
The birthplace of the famous Brothers Grimm does not only present great shopping opportunities, such as the “Forum Hanau” mall with its more than 90 stores. The city is also the arena for the biggest farmers’ market in the region of Hesse: more than 100 stalls selling food, drinks and various artifacts await guests at the “Neustädter Marktplatz” every Wednesday and Saturday. Before embarking on your trip along the Fairy Tale Route or the German Half-Timbered House Road, both starting in Hanau, make sure to inform yourself about the great events taking place there throughout the year, such as the Brothers Grimm or the Lamboy Festival!
The German Half-Timbered House Road
Germany is renowned for its half-timbered houses and there are countless examples in almost every German city or town throughout the country. But did you know that there is an official route called the German Half-Timbered House Road leading from the Elbe River in the north, through various federal states of Germany, to the Black Forest in the South? The road will also take you through many highlights of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region, such as the Spessart and Taunus areas, and the Offenbach and the Rhine areas. See attractions like the Büdingen Castle, Frankfurt Höchst, Gelnhausen, Limburg, Dreieich or Seligenstadt, to mention but a few.
Our press kit with more information on the highlights of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region is available in the download area of the press release.
