PRESS CONFERENCE: THE PROGRESS PARTY – INTERNATIONAL REACTIONS AND RELATIONS
Speakers:
Ketil Solvik-Olsen, Deputy Leader (PP)
Himanshu Gulati, Leader (PP Youth)
Time/Place:
The Progress Party HQ, Karl Johans Gate 25, 6thfloor, Oslo, Tuesday, September 17th, 12:00
Topic:
The unreasonable in highlightning the terrorist and mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik’s former and passive membership in the youth party as relevant in a presentation of the Progress Party. He once was a member, but left because he didn`t find anyone supporting his views in the party. The unreasonable and incorrect in using tags such as «Far right», «Rechts-populistisch», «Anti-immigration», «xénophobe» etc. describing the party
Background:
The Progress Party has been part of the political landscape in Norway for 40 years. The party was created on an agenda of minimal government, liberal values and lower taxation. When immigration became an issue in the late 80s, the party favored a controlled, lower immigration rate, but has not tried to impose an immigration freeze. There`s a huge difference between advocating a strict immigration policy and being anti-immigration. We are a pragmatic classical liberal/liberal-conservative party, advocating lower taxes, free choice in health and education, and a new anchor in economic policy, and strongly in favor of globalization and international cooperation. Defending human rights, democracy and free trade are among the cornerstones of our foreign policy.
