Frontec accredited as a "Bluetooth Solution Provider" Frontec has signed a partnership agreement with Ericsson Microelectronics, which now makes Frontec an accredited "Bluetooth Solution Provider". The agreement covers the development of Bluetooth applications and joint cooperation on marketing and support. Bluetooth is an important part of Frontec's investment in intelligent communication. Part of the accreditation process involved the development of a demonstration application. Frontec developed an application, which transferred video images in real time from a web camera to a PC via a cable-free Bluetooth link. "There are currently only four companies in the world which have been accredited as "Bluetooth Solution Providers" by Ericsson Microelectronics. In addition, Frontec has demonstrated a working application, which combines performance with visuality in a very powerful way. It is an excellent way to show our customers the business opportunities which this new technology can offer. After all, it is business opportunities which interest customers, not the technology itself," says Anders Eriksson, vice MD of Frontec AB. "The Demonstrator shows Bluetooth's performance in such a way that we will use it in several different scenarios," says Stefan Löf, Senior Product Manager, Ericsson Microelectronics. Bluetooth is a standard for cable-free, short distance voice and data communication between telephones, computers and other peripheral equipment. The concept has been developed by Ericsson in partnership with other international IT and telecommunications companies. The most recent Bluetooth conference in Los Angeles attracted more than 2000 delegates and demonstrated the potential of the Bluetooth concept. Since the 80s, Frontec has been working on the development of Telekom infrastructures and Bluetooth is part of the investment and development of competence within this area.
