Frontec first with WAP R/3 Connector Frontec has developed a WAP R/3 connector, the first of its kind. The company has succeeded in linking WAP technology directly to the SAP R/3 business system. With the WAP R/3 Connector the user remains mobile and can send or receive information from a mobile telephone as easily as on a computer connected to a network. - Up to now we have always been tied to a physical workplace. Now we can interface with customers by mobile much faster. This means that the customer has permanent access to support wherever he or she is. We are the first to present a standard WAP R/3 gateway with integral security, says Joakim Linnarsson, who has developed the WAP solution for Frontec. Working with the WAP R/3 Connector is no different to working with a computer. The limiting factor is the size of the screen. For this Frontec is co-operating with Symbol which manufactures handheld computers and barcode readers. - The biggest benefit of Frontec's WAP R/3 Connector for SAP R/3 customers is in working with key factors, simple work flows, time sheets, customer information, balance score card, warehouse, order and status. The customer can save a lot of time by using the mobile link up to the SAP R/3 business system, says Jan Rehn, Marketing Director, Frontec eBusiness. - We have tested this idea with the transport industry and they are very interested. We have produced a complete application that more than halves the invoice process for the haulage contractor, says Jan Rehn. - Via the WAP R/3 Connector the driver can receive orders directly in the lorry. He collects his load and delivers it to the customer. When he discharges the load he keys in the exact weight delivered. SAP supplies the invoice before the platform is in a horizontal position and the next day the customer has the invoice. The market for Frontec's WAP R/3 Connector consists of existing SAP R/3 customers, but also those customers who use Frontec's ASP service "Business Hotel". Hotel customers are small and medium size businesses, mostly e-commerce businesses, which pay a monthly subscription. They don't need to invest in a full-scale business system and they don't need to set up their own security system. They can subscribe to the complete SAP R/3 system including the WAP service.
