Frontec to install lab system at SCA and Mölnlycke Frontec has been given the task of installing the Unilab system at SCA Hygiene Products and Mölnlycke Health Care. Unilab will be installed in all development labs. Unilab is a 'LIMS' (Laboratory Information Management System) developed by Compex, a world leader in the LIMS field. Unilab has become a de facto standard in groups such as Unilever, Kraft and Nestlé. Frontec is Compex's partner in Scandinavia and has so far been responsible for the installation of Unilab at Van den Bergh Food (Unilever) in Helsingborg. "With Unilab in all development labs, our development activities will be more efficient, it will facilitate the collaboration between the various units and we can learn from each other's experience. In addition, maintenance and support is more efficient with just one system," says Janeric Löfgren, head of the development labs at SCA Hygiene Products. "Previously we had several different in-house systems and one central system that covered only a small aspect of our lab activities." "The assignment will be spearheaded by a pilot project in one of the six labs at the Gothenburg plant. After careful testing, there will be a roll-out to the other Gothenburg labs and those in Mannheim, Germany," relates Rune Lund, Frontec´s Unilab business manager. Frontec's commitments in the pilot project include not only project management but also the supply of licences, installation, customisation and training of personnel prior to the forthcoming roll-out. The value of the order is around 4.5 MSEK. The pilot project will be completed during the second quarter of 1999.
