Mandator Supplies Platform for Swedish Armed Forces' Internal Communication

Mandator's GroupTech specialist unit has supplied the Swedish Armed Forces with a new intranet and portal platform.

The package, which has been named emil, enables the Swedish Armed Forces to gather their staff members under a common platform for the first time. Each authority previously had a separate intranet.

The Swedish Armed Forces ordered the solution from FMV, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, which in turn engaged Mandator to conduct the project. Work began in October 2004 and the system was brought online in August 2005.

"I hope and believe that emil will greatly benefit the Swedish Armed Forces' internal communication," wrote Håkan Syrén, Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, in a statement on the intranet the day it was launched.

Mandator's GroupTech specialist unit built the solution with Lotus Notes.
"This has been an extensive and exciting project," says John Johansson, the responsible unit manager at Mandator. "The Swedish Armed Forces' requirements provided some real challenges. We're very proud to be able to present the completed solution."
