Mandator to build visa management system in Estonia

Mandator's Estonian operation has won the confidence of the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs to build a new visa management system.

The system will make it possible for Estonia to participate in the EU's Schengen Agreement. The solution will be integrated with the EU's centralised system and a number of national systems in Estonia. It is estimated that the agreement will require at least 10 consultants for a period of one year.

"We have developed the previous system and this is a confirmation of our high operational expertise combined with a recognised capability to conduct projects with good delivery precision," says Andres Järviste, head of Mandator in Estonia.

Estonia has been an EU member state since 1 May 2004. The new system is decisive for Estonia's future participation in the EU's Schengen Agreement, which involves participating countries abolishing identity checks on persons travelling between said countries, making it possible to move freely within the Schengen states. At present, 15 of the 25 EU member states participate in this agreement.

Mandator acquired its Estonian operation in 1999 and today the company is Mandator's largest overseas operation with offices in Tallinn and Tartu. The company has previously been voted one of Estonia's foremost IT companies by Äripäev, the Swedish financial newspaper Dagens Industri's Estonian equivalent.
