Four In A Row For Fulton

For over twenty five years, Midland Linen Services has been providing table and bed linen and chef’s wear to universities, hotels, clubs and restaurants within a fifty mile radius of its Birmingham-based facility. In that time, the company’s boiler replacement policy has seen them purchase four steam boilers, but they have always stayed loyal to one manufacturer – Fulton!

When Midland Linen was founded in 1985, managing director Jeffrey Yapp approached Fulton and a 60E vertical gas-fired boiler was specified and installed to provide steam to heat water for the washing machines and produce steam for the calendar ironers and garment presses. In 1995 and 1997, to meet increasing demand, two more Fulton 60E boilers were installed and, in 2001, Midland Linen’s original 16 year old 60E was replaced with Fulton’s latest 60J vertical steam boiler.

Eleven years on, with demand still increasing and Midland Linen now operating three calendar ironers and eleven washing machines, the company has instigated its boiler replacement policy and again approached Fulton. On this occasion, the 60E gas-fired steam boiler installed in 1995 has been replaced with a second 60J, ensuring that Midland Linen continues to provide a disruption-free service to its customers.

Commenting for Midland Linen, Yap says that even though Fulton steam boilers are reliable, he has always maintained a replacement policy and has always stuck with Fulton. “Fulton has always had an enviable reputation for its boilers which, in my opinion, is matched with an unrivalled understanding of the laundry industry.”

Midland Linen’s demand for the three Fulton boilers is currently one- to one-and-a-half boilers per day, so they are used on a rotational basis to ensure that each boiler is rested for seven to ten days at a time.

Fulton’s renowned ‘J’ Series vertical gas-, oil- and dual-fuel fired steam boiler range includes eight models covering outputs from 96 to 960 kg/h. Its tubeless design, invented by Fulton, eliminates the coils and tubes traditionally used in steam raising plant and enables the Series ‘J’ to raise its full steam output in just 20 minutes. Their simple design and robust construction from top quality materials make them ideal for laundry applications.
