Dawson County United (DCU) Proudly Announces They Will Merge Their Youth Soccer Program With Lanier Soccer Association (LSA).
Operating since 1996, LSA has established themselves as one of North Georgia’s premier producers of talented young soccer players. With an emphasis on developing their own local soccer players, LSA strives to promote positive character traits and physically fit youth, so they may mature into strong, healthy adults. Operating as a non profit organization, LSA employs some of the most respected and qualified trainers in North Georgia.
Sharing our own principles of investing in our local youth and creating a family atmosphere, the merger with LSA will be a seamless and positive step in the growth of our Dawson County soccer program. LSA and DCU have had a positive relationship that has developed over 3 years of sharing ideas and working together to promote soccer in our communities. The merger comes about as the result of a great respect developed by both parties over that extended time period. As a result of the merger, DCU will be changing it's name to LSA West effective for the fall 2011 season.
DCU takes great pride in the program that it has developed through the hard work of it’s local volunteers, and we see this as an opportunity to offer our local community an even stronger program with a greater infrastructure. As a club that puts an emphasis on taking the time to enjoy a level of personal investment in it’s players, LSA has a long term track record of offering, what their members describe as “truly impeccable programs” with “trainers of the utmost quality”. LSA also operates at what is widely considered to be one of the best soccer facilities in the state of Georgia.
What does this mean for Dawson County Soccer Players?
1. Rec Inter-League Scheduling. Partnering with LSA’s vast recreational program allows us to restrict travel for our inter-league games in every age group where it is needed. Inter league home games will be at our Dawson County soccer complex, and road games will be plaid only 30 minutes away at Allen Creek in Gainesville, which is a straight shot across Hwy 53. This eliminates the need to use the state’s scheduling and eliminates the need for extensive travel by our teams.
2. Academy Group Scheduling. Partnering with LSA’s academy scheduling also eliminates the need for our academy teams to travel great distances to compete against smaller clubs.
3. Premier High School Age Programs. LSA has a track record fielding numerous division 1 select teams. Teams that are made up of local players that they developed, rather than recruiting outside of their community. Our partnership with LSA will ensure that our high school aged players receive the quality training they deserve, at a price much more affordable than that of clubs based outside of our community.
4. Infrastructure and Facilities. LSA’s facilities are unmatched in the entire state of Georgia, and through their support, we will set the same goals in the development of our Dawson County based Soccer Complex, located next to Rock Creek on Bannister Rd.
5. Local Community Trainers, Coaches and Volunteers. The core of our Dawson County program will still be managed by the same local members of our community that teach, live, and interact with our families on a daily basis. This is perhaps the biggest core belief of DCU. The un-arguable fact that no one is more dedicated and invested in the development of our youth than the people that are part of their lives on a daily basis.
Registration for tryouts for all DCU (LSA West) Academy Soccer Teams is now open. Tryouts will be held in Dawson County, at Rock Creek Sports Complex, on May 30-June 2, from 5:30-8:30. Also, registration for LSA West's Rec programs is open until July 30th. For more information call us at 706-851-4493 or visit dawsoncountyunited.com
