THE DARKNESS™ II DEMO NOW AVAILABLE ON GAIKAI CLOUD GAMING SERVICE
2K Games’ Free Playable Demo Available For Instant Streaming In Conjunction with North American and International Release Dates
LOS ANGELES, CA - February 8, 2012 - Gaikai Inc., the innovative cloud gaming service, announced today that a free playable demo of 2K Games’ highly anticipated first-person shooter, The Darkness™ II, is now available for instant trial at www.embracethedarkness.com and selected affiliate and retail websites across North America. It features gamepad support and does not require any download or installation, allowing gamers to instantly stream the first ever cloud demo of the game to their browser. The release of the demo will help to usher in the multiplatform North American release of The Darkness II. The Darkness II will launch internationally on February 10, 2012.
Developed by Digital Extremes, published by 2K Games and inspired by the popular comic book series created by Top Cow Productions, Inc., The Darkness II is the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 hit, The Darkness. The Darkness II is an intense first-person shooter that puts you in the role of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient force of chaos known as The Darkness. Introducing unique Quad-Wielding™ combat and four-person cooperative gameplay distinct from the first-person campaign, The Darkness II breaks the mold of traditional first-person shooter titles.
“The Darkness II is visually impressive and is driven by a compelling storyline, which brings out the best in Gaikai’s cloud gaming service, instantly reaching a global audience of millions of gamers with no special modifications or changes to the game,” said Gaikai’s CEO, David Perry. “We are thrilled to work with The Darkness franchise to open the floodgates of gamers to instantly experience such a high quality game.”
