Gambro makes major expansion in dialyzer production Stockholm, Sweden, March 22, 2001 - Gambro AB (OM Stockholm Exchange: GAMBaST, GAMBbST), a leading international medical technology and healthcare company, today announced that it is substantially expanding its production capacity of synthetic membrane dialyzers. The investment will add new production lines to the existing ones at the Gambro sites in Hechingen, Germany and Meyzieu, France. Gambro is increasing its existing output with an extra capacity of close to 8 million units per year in order to meet the growing demand for synthetic membrane dialyzers world-wide. The increased capacity relates to the two Gambro synthetic membrane dialyzer families Polyflux and Arylane. The deliveries from this investment will reach the market in two years. In February 2000 Gambro announced an expansion in its synthetic membrane dialyzer production by 1.5 million units annually. An additional capacity increase of 5 million will start during autumn this year. "The investment is in line with our strategy to further develop our globally strong position in hemodialysis, where synthetic membrane dialyzers play an increasingly important part. This is a big step for Gambro", says Alain Granger, President of Gambro Renal Products. "It will improve our competitiveness and help meet the demand both from Gambro's own clinics, as well as that from our customers."
