US FDA clears Gambro BCT's software for interface with blood center information systems (Local US press release) Denver, CO, October 15, 2003 - Gambro BCT, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gambro AB (Stockholmsbörsen: GAMBaST, GAMBbST), a leading international medical technology and healthcare company, today announced that it has received US Food and Drug Administration market clearance for the two-way software interface between the Vista(TM) Information System and Wyndgate Technologies®' SafeTrace® blood center software, to share critical donor, blood collection and blood center operations information. "Vista is a cutting-edge software solution connecting donors, blood center operations and blood collection devices," stated David Perez, President of Gambro BCT. Vista features component blood loss tracking, collection device interfaces, automated donor management, and business decision support. Mr. Perez added, "We designed Vista with customer application connectivity in mind. We are very happy to realize Vista's potential in our alliance with Wyndgate and make this valuable integration available to SafeTrace customers." Technical trials for the two-way Vista and SafeTrace interface were conducted at the San Diego Blood Bank in California. The San Diego Blood Bank is an independent blood center serving approximately 50 hospitals in the Southern California Region. "The connectivity between Vista and SafeTrace reduces errors, eliminates duplicate data entries, streamlines donor record management, and contributes to our goal of 'paperless' processing, " commented Ramona Walker, Chief Executive Officer of the San Diego Blood Bank.
