US government agency expands period under investigation in review of laboratory services billings Stockholm, Sweden - Gambro AB (Stockholm Stock Exchange: GAMBaST, GAMBbST), a leading international medical technology and healthcare com- pany, today announced that the US government agency investigating billing records related to laboratory testing performed by its US subsidiaries, Gambro Healthcare Laboratory Services, Inc. and Dialysis Holdings Laboratory Services, Inc. has notified the Company that it intends to expand the period under review to include the years ended December 31, 1994 and 1995. Amounts billed to Medicare in 1994 and 1995 were approximately USD 8.5 M and USD 12.7 M, respectively. These amounts are in addition to the amounts disclosed in the Company's prior press release dated October 19, 1999. The Company continues to cooperate fully with the government and has established a productive dialogue with government representatives. At this point it is not possible to determine the ultimate outcome of the government investigations, the amount of any overpayment claims that may be made by the US government or whether any penalties or fines may be assessed.
