JUN-AIR/Thorite Partnership Creates the Perfect Push-Pull Marketing Initiative for Pegler Yorkshire
Having recently launched a new range of Tectite Metal Push-Fit plumbing fittings, Pegler Yorkshire was looking for an innovative way of presenting the benefits of its unique system to as wide an audience as possible. The company decided to invest in a mobile exhibition vehicle featuring three working test rigs which, using Thorite’s expertise and compressed air from an oil-free JUN-AIR compressor, is able to demonstrate the strength, integrity and durability of the joints that the pipes, valves and fittings system creates.
Thorite, the UK’s largest distributor of pneumatic products and process systems, was invited to submit a design for the vehicle’s test rigs and recommended using a JUN-AIR 2xOF302-40B oil-free compressor because its combination of compact design, quiet operation and unrivalled output of 76 lpm (2.68 cfm) at 8 bar best met the demands of the application. Another important factor in the specification of the JUN-AIR compressor was its ability to operate from the exhibition vehicle’s on-board generator.
Explaining the operation of the test rigs, Thorite’s marketing and engineering services director Ross Gowler says: “The JUN-AIR compressor, connected to pneumatic cylinders with control valves, provides compressed air to constantly push and pull the Tectite fittings on two of the test rigs. Additionally, a Thorite-supplied hydraulic power pack with ancillaries generates high pressures of approximately 120bar on the third rig. Together the three rigs subject the fittings to far more strain than they would have to cope with in normal applications, providing convincing proof of Tectite’s outstanding performance.”
The Gast Group’s JUN-AIR range of oil-less air compressors offers an unrivalled combination of low noise levels, reliability, long life and low maintenance. With standard outputs of up to 276l/min at 8bar (120psi), the OF range offers a complete compressed air solution.
To ensure the highest air quality throughout the lifetime of the oil-less compressor range, receivers are internally powder-coated to avoid corrosion. Adsorption dryers remove moisture to ensure 100% dry, clean oil free compressed air, with pressure dewpoints of -40°C. The dryer is located upstream of the receiver so the receiver only stores dry air. Units feature a unique cooling system and wear-resisting piston rings, and are designed for 100% continuous operation up to 10 bar maximum pressure. Higher pressure units are available.
Commenting for the Gast Group, regional sales manager Michael Roff says the Pegler Yorkshire application is the perfect example of a partnership between manufacturer and distributor. “Thorite has been a JUN-AIR distributor for nearly 20 years and is renowned for providing a quality service and sound advice, backed by fast and efficient product availability.”
The exhibition vehicle, with the three test rigs installed, is now on a tour of Pegler YorkshireUKcustomers doing exactly what it was intended for – demonstrating that the Tectite fittings system combines the strength and performance of metal with the convenience and efficiency of plastic.
