Gatespace Launches Carrier-Grade System for Deploying and Managing Broadband Services Gatespace's e-Services system is the first commercially available system to provide a carrier-grade, scalable system for operators and service providers entering the broadband managed-services market. Göteborg, Sweden - May 15, 2002 - Gatespace, a leading provider of managed services systems for broadband operators and telematics system developers, announced today that it is launching its e-Services system 1.3 for broadband operators and service providers. Earlier this year, Gatespace acquired the e-Services Venture from Ericsson, and the acquired Ericsson products have now been fully integrated with Gatespace's existing managed services solutions for broadband and telematics. Gatespace is delivering complete e-Services systems for field trials or deployment in the residential or enterprise broadband markets. Gatespace e-Services for the residential market include a Home Network/Firewall e- Service, an e-Tuner Service for MP3 music distribution, and a Home Automation e-Service. Their enterprise e-Service is an integrated VPN/Firewall services targeted for telecommuting and remote workers. The Gatespace e-Services system 1.3 provides a way to manage, provision and configure e-Services (both native and OSGi-based) for the broadband and telematics markets. It includes a carrier-grade e-Services center; residential, enterprise or automotive e-Services specifically targeted for those markets; and the embedded client software and hardware. The e-Services center is the operations and maintenance system of the e- Services system. It is located in the network backbone or elsewhere on the Internet where IP connectivity is provided and performs life-cycle management, including provisioning, upgrading and configuring for all types of software and services. The e-Services center includes the following functionality: · Lifecycle management of native services - OSGi framework, OSs, JVMs, firewalls, VPNs · Update of gateways/customer premise equipment - OSGi and other services · Monitor gateways/customer premise equipment - remote diagnosis and configuration for QoS · Registration of new subscribers and gateways or customer premise equipment (CPE). · Order entry, order management, and service provisioning functions. · A Front-end portal for the system administrator and help desk personnel. · An end-user self-care portal. · The system is open and supports full interoperability with existing OSS systems, Java Enterprise Edition J2EE, legacy CRMs, legacy billing systems, databases and network management systems.
