Resident Matthew George speaks out for Wokingham in the local elections

Wokingham UK, Monday 27th April 2015 – ALREADY recognised as an active and dedicated Wokingham volunteer, local resident Matthew George has decided it's time to prove his commitment to a better Wokingham by standing for Evendon's West ward in the local elections, set for May 7th 2015.

George’s key goals are supporting the Town Centre, driving footfall into the town to boost local business, and establishing a much stronger image for the historic market town of Wokingham, which so many residents hold dear.

As an active volunteer within the Town Team, holding the title of Head of Marketing for a number of years, Matthew George is a passionate believer in supporting local businesses, local communities and local people. He has already taken an active role in a number of the town’s recent successes – more recently promoting the Town Team online with Digital Social Media Marketing, and Marketing the Super Sunday Markets, which positively supported local business.

Matthew is now keen to cement his position by bringing his unique digital marketing skill set to the Town Council and fully utilise his experience to the benefit of Wokingham.

I’m both proud and pleased to be standing for a local ward in Wokingham” says Matthew George. “As a Conservative candidate I know that I can truly make a difference to the regeneration of the town. The rejuvenation of business in the town is at the heart of my goal.”

Matthew continued “As a 30 year old, I would also like to connect with the younger voter and show that a younger Conservative councillor is possible in Wokingham.”

If Matthew is successful in his Council election campaign he pledges to:

  • Support the Town Centre during the regeneration, ensuring that independent business doesn’t just survive but thrive during the process; ‘I would like to combine my marketing skill set with the Councillor role to harness as many opportunities as possible for local people.’

  • Maximise the marketing opportunities for the Town. ‘Wokingham has so much to offer – Incredible Edible, Wokingham in Bloom, Sunny Saturday’s to name but a few – and we need to shout about it! It’s time to put Wokingham on the map.’

  • Ensure that the Town Council Vision is achieved or exceeded.

  • Foster a positive working relationship between the Town Council and Borough Council, while making sure that residents understand the responsibilities of each sector.

If you believe in a bright future for Wokingham, Matthew George would like to ask for your support – and your vote – in the Council elections on 7th May 2015.
