The Most Anticipated Books of 2022

2021 was an excellent year for books, with Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro and Great Circle by Maggie Shipstead being a couple of the standout titles. Now, it’s time to look forward to what 2022 has to offer. Here are some of the most anticipated books for the year ahead.

Texas Hold’em For Dummies by Mark Harlan

Our first entry for the most anticipated books of 2022 is, of course, a casino strategy publication. Hold’em is the most-played variant of poker on the planet, and one of the top card games overall in terms of popularity. Indeed, the only card game that can beat it for players is blackjack. The great thing about Hold’em is that it’s easy to pick up. But players do need to take some basic advice to get better, which is where this gem comes in.

One of the most eagerly anticipated books for online casino and poker players in 2022 is Texas Hold’em for Dummies by Mark Harlan, as it provides a clear-cut overview of what to do in any situation. The betting strategies that readers will pick up from the book are also applicable in other gambling games like roulette and blackjack. The book is scheduled for release in late March.

The Candy House by Jennifer Egan

Next on our list is something a little tenser, and for the thriller fans among you. Jennifer Egan is best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning 2010 offering, A Visit from the Goon Squad. This was considered by many to be one of the best books of the decade, and it was a great follow-up to her breakout novel in 2006, The Keep. Egan has continued to top bestseller lists throughout her career and her 2017 release, Manhattan Beach, was also a massive hit. It should come as no surprise, then, that fans and critics alike are licking their lips at the prospect of reading her next offering.

The Candy House is the upcoming 2022 release from Egan, which is set to hit shelves in April. The new book is a psychological thriller that explores the dangerous potential of technology. It imagines a world in which memories are no longer our own. Instead, they can be stored on an external cloud drive and shared with others. This idea was originally featured in the Black Mirror episode, The Entire History of You, and readers will be eager to experience Egan’s twist on it.

Trust by Hernan Diaz

This next novel is for lovers of twists, turns, and puzzles. Hernan Diaz is one of the world’s most thrilling talents, and he shot to worldwide notoriety when he became a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2017. The book that almost won the top honours was In the Distance, a novel described by Carys Davies of the Guardian as a "thrilling narrative, full of twists and turns.”

Trust is Diaz’s latest offering and is expected to be available in bookstores in May this year. The new novel has been referred to as a literary puzzle, one in which readers will have to piece together several intertwining plots all surrounding themes of power and wealth in 1920s New York. The narrative contends with the concept of how the quest for supremacy can often lead to the manipulation of truth, and how the pull of capital can turn even moral people towards corruption.

The list of books to watch out for in 2022 is endless, and these are just three options out of many that are likely to be nominated for awards. If you feel like you didn’t read enough in 2021, maybe this should be the year that you take some time to gain pleasure from this relaxing and entertaining activity.
