While it’s still a way away, the topic that’s been on everyone’s tongues of late is the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although it’s not scheduled to begin for almost four months, the draws have recently been announced, and this has spurred a lot of speculation among fans and commentators alike.   

The action is set to kick off on the 21st of November 2022, with the final match played on the 18th of December. This will make it the first FIFA World Cup ever to take place during the winter months, so it’s likely to be something rather special. 

With eight groups of four nations set to compete in the opening phase, we look at which teams will be playing.

Although we have over three months left to wait until the FIFA World Cup 2022 begins, the excitement is already palpable. Fans around the world are busy speculating about who is likely to claim the crown. Others are enjoying football-themed entertainment, which there is naturally a huge market for. To decide who goes through, the UAE and Australia went head-to-head on the 7th of June, where Australia then played against Peru a week later and were victories after a penalty shootout. On the 14th of June, Costa Rica faced New Zealand and won with a 1-0 score. Australia is now placed into group D where they will play against reigning champions France among others. While Costa Rica is put through into group E, where they’ll compete against Germany, Japan and Spain.
