Elion selects iopsys 2.0 software platform from Inteno
Elion, part of TeliaSonera group and Estonia’s leading triple play operator, selects the new iopsys 2.0 software platform for its next generation residential gateways. The iopsys 2.0 concept goes beyond triple play and enables applications to be downloaded to the gateways.
One of the cornerstones in the iopsys platform is the open source gateway operating system including packet engine and portal client based on XMPP. This enables the residential gateway to connect to and download applications from a cloud based portal and application store.
“We transform the residential gateway into an intelligent hub for innovative services and applications”, says Conny Franzén CEO of the Inteno Group, the company that has developed the iopsys platform.
“Elion has previously selected the Inteno DG301 high-end gateway running the first version of iopsys operating system but has now upgraded the installed base to the iopsys 2.0 version enabling not only more advanced gateway features but also the exiting opportunity’s that the cloud connection will bring. We are very excited and glad that Elion selected our solution” says Conny Franzén.
“We selected Inteno and iopsys due to the wide possibilities that it opens up. The ultimate goal is to enhance the residential gateway to become the user friendly server for the digital home”, says Tarmo Tulva, Head of CPE Department at Elion.
“Our system is based on the vision that everything in the digital home should be integrated and accessible from different devices, especially the smartphones”, says Conny Franzén.
