Genexis Group, a leading European company in the fiber broadband industry, is proud to share that its application for science-based emission reduction targets has been approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).  The acknowledgment represents a significant step forward in Genexis' ambitious commitment to sustainability, and its dedication to addressing climate change on a worldwide scale.

Genexis applied clear and ambitious emission reduction targets to the SBTi. These targets have now received formal approval through a streamlined validation process, a pathway tailored exclusively for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

  • Near-term goal: Genexis commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.
  • Long-term goal: Genexis commits to reduce scope 1+2+3 emissions by 90% by 2050 from a 2022 base year.

Gerlas van den Hoven, CEO of Genexis Group: "We are proud to get this significant acknowledgment of the importance and value of our dedicated strive to reduce our environmental footprint and our commitment to contribute to a sustainable future. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do; how we operate, how we do product design, and how our products are installed, used, and reused.”

Science-Based Targets

The SBTi is a global effort aimed at driving businesses and organizations to set and implement ambitious emission reduction targets in line with scientific consensus on climate change. Its mission is to align the private sector with the goals of the Paris Agreement, limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. By embracing SBTi, Genexis aligns itself with a community of forward-thinking companies worldwide that are actively taking measures to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet.

Validation and Impact

This recognition not only validates Genexis commitment to sustainability but also sets a positive example for the industry, showcasing the company's leadership in environmental responsibility.

To achieve these targets, Genexis is actively developing a comprehensive climate reduction plan that includes strategies to enhance understanding and control over emissions, utilizing the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) framework as a guiding framework. Genexis places significant importance on accurate measurement of emissions and is committed to utilizing dedicated systems and applications, with the aim of relying increasingly on actual data, reducing the need for extrapolation and estimation.

In addition to science-based targets, Genexis is proactively pursuing a range of sustainability initiatives, such as expanding its circular product offering, procuring renewable electricity, and establishing energy consumption reduction targets during product use.
