Inteno acquires the Belgian company Cloud Friends
In Cloud Friend’s portal, broadband customers can purchase and download various applications. It can be anything from accessing a hard drive via a smartphone, control heating and lighting in the home or connect to a web camera.
“Cloud Friends application portal fits well with our software. We have launched a new software for residential gateways based on open source software that can be used to develop and upload software to the digital home. Thanks to Cloud Friends portal, consumers can see what applications are available and easily download what they want”, says Conny Franzén, CEO of the Inteno Group.
“This solution uses the customer’s residential gateway as the platform to provision the application. It works the same way as when you buy apps for your smartphone. The difference is that you download the applications to your residential gateway”, continues Conny Franzén.
“When we started Cloud Friends, the idea was to enhance the residential gateway to become the user friendly server for the digital home”, says Erik Horemans, one of the founders of Cloud Friends. “With the residential gateway as the home server, the operator can build solutions and provide services that create value for their customers. The combined software solutions of Cloud Friends and Inteno, will make this a reality.”
