Inauguration of new clinic for maternal health care in Skåne, Sweden
On 28 October Global Health Partner is opening its own maternal health care clinic, Admira Kvinnohälsa – Admira Care for Women. The first patients will be received on 1 November when Admira Kvinnohälsa opens in newly renovated premises in the same building as Specialist Center Skåne in Lund, Sweden.
The inauguration of the clinic means that Specialist Center Skåne is starting a new type of business, maternal health care, under the name of Admira Kvinnohälsa – Admira Care for Women. As from 1 September 2011 there has been a new model in operation for maternal health care in Skåne, whereby women in Skåne have a free choice about where they want to go for their pregnancy check ups and cervical smear testing. There is accreditation and a contract with Region Skåne to conduct maternal health care, to give advice on contraception and sexual health, and to take gynecological smear tests as part of the organized screening for cervical cancer.
“Admira Kvinnohälsa will fit in well with Specialist Center Skånes concept and be a good complement. It will be one more business where high medical competence will be able to be offered. We have employed carefully selected midwives with long experience, a high level of competence and great commitment, and engaged highly experienced specialist doctors in gynecology and obstetrics. Besides offering different types of preparation before giving birth, smear testing and contraception advice, we are now building a platform for also being able to set up a gynecological outpatients’ department and gynecological treatment,” says CEO Karin Staël von Holstein.
