Five and a half years after joining ACDelco - one of the most widely recognised brands within the worldwide aftermarket - General Manager Lee Quinney has received the ultimate accolade from parent company General Motors, having been promoted to the position of Director – AMUK.

Made in recognition of the growth that the business has enjoyed within the UK and Europe under Quinney’s stewardship, Lee now assumes full responsibility for ACDelco’s independent aftermarket operation within what remain two strategically important global territories. The promotion, which became effective on August 1, coincided with the announcement that the former head of ACDelco’s European operation, Willi Fey is to retire after a 33-year career with General Motors.

Commenting on the promotion, Willi Fey said: “Lee has been the architect behind the substantial growth that ACDelco has enjoyed in the UK and Europe over the last five and a half years, and his continued and dedicated focus to develop the business will help further strengthen ACDelco’s already prominent position within the UK and European aftermarket. What’s more, he has assembled a very experienced and equally enthusiastic team to support the continued implementation of what remains a progressive development strategy.

“I would personally like to congratulate Lee on his achievements and wish him every success in the future,” he added.

In his new role, Lee will report directly to Markus Sternberg, Executive Director of European Aftersales at Opel/Vauxhall and Duncan Aldred, Chairman & Managing Director of Vauxhall Motors.

Commenting on his new role, an enthusiastic Lee Quinney said: “The combined efforts of everyone associated with ACDelco, both in the UK and Europe, has been instrumental in helping the organisation secure a very strong position within the independent aftermarket and I am now looking forward to working with them to take the business to its next level. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire ACDelco team for their ongoing help, hard work, drive and determination.

“Looking to the future, and given the fact that we are backed by one of the strongest brands in the worldwide aftermarket, it is our aim to capitalise on the significant opportunities that the aftermarket still has to offer,” he concluded.

During his time with ACDelco, Lee has put in place an extremely experienced team covering the areas of sales, customer service and parts distribution; one that has already proven more than capable of delivering a first class service to what has been a rapidly expanding customer base. He has also been responsible for moving the company’s head office location from Newport Pagnell to neighbouring Luton, whilst at the same time consolidating its administration facility and parts warehouse onto the same site. In addition, he oversaw the successful amalgamation of ACDelco’s European operations onto the one UK site.

What’s more, Lee has significantly strengthened ACDelco’s UK product offering, so much so that is has become acknowledged by a number of the UK’s leading aftermarket players in terms of product range coverage, quality and price competitiveness.
