CATERING BRANDS RECEIVE ROYAL SEAL OF APPROVAL
Glen Dimplex Home Appliances (GDHA) – the group company for Glen Dimplex Professional Appliances (GDPA) and the Lec Commercial and Burco catering brands - received the royal seal of approval this week after being presented with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2012 for the International Trade category. The award was made following an increase of 880% in overseas sales of its British-made products
Presented by HRH the Duke of Kent at GDHA’s and GDPA’s impressive manufacturing facilities in Prescot, Merseyside, the Queen's Award for Enterprise is an accolade for business performance, and recognises and rewards outstanding achievement. They are made each year by Her Majesty the Queen, on the recommendation of an advisory committee, including representatives of Government, industry and commerce, and trade unions.
Speaking at the ceremony the Vice Lord Lieutenant said: “You have built a reputation for excellence and I want to congratulate you all on your success, for the Queen’s Award is a great honour to all the people involved in every aspect of the business.”
He added: “The award recognises the results of teamwork under positive leadership and it certainly sets a standard of achievement that will be hard to beat. I’m sure Glen Dimplex will continue to prosper to the benefit of those you employ, the county of Merseyside and, indeed, the whole United Kingdom.”
Commenting on the Award, GDPA’s Marketing Manager, Jon Usher said: “This is a significant achievement for a British manufacturer operating in a challenging marketplace and it just goes to show that ‘Made in Britain’ is a still a mark of quality and much appreciated overseas. It is an accolade that we are extremely proud of and marks many years of hard work by people across the business.”
The Lec Commercial and Burco brands have a combined history of more than 170 years, and, providing a complete range of cooking, refrigeration and beverage making products suitable for a wide variety of catering needs, they are renowned for simplicity, performance, reliability and durability.
