Hong Kong January 9, 2006 — 5V Technologies Chooses GIPS to Bring High Fidelity Voice-Processing Technology to Asian Manufacturers
5V Technologies to Deliver GIPS VoiceEngine Embedded in its VoIP and VoWLAN System-on-Chip products for Growing Mobile Telephony Market in Asia

San Francisco, CA – January 9, 2006 –Global IP Sound (GIPS), the leading provider of embedded speech-processing solutions for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market, today announced that 5V Technologies Ltd., a leading Taiwanese chip developer, will integrate GIPS VoiceEngine Embedded into its VoIP and VoWLAN System-on-Chip (SoC) offerings in the first quarter of 2006.

“Demand for SOC solutions worldwide is growing rapidly, and the Asian markets are critical drivers of that growth,” said Gary P. Hermansen, President and CEO of GIPS. “An alliance with a leader like 5V promises that GIPS will be at the forefront of the highly competitive Taiwanese hardware market, as the companies push the market even further ahead. GIPS will empower companies in Asia and elsewhere with the quality that users of SoC and other solutions are coming to expect.”

The world market for SoC will grow from approximately $10.4 billion in 2003 to $43.2 billion by 2009, for an average annual growth rate of 24.6 percent, according to a study by Business Communications Co. Meanwhile, the Asian market offers billions of potential customers for the implementation of SoC on wireless devices. Market research firm In-Stat/MDR forecasts that the number of voice-based Wifi users will grow at over 120% per annum from 2004 to 2008, reaching 145 million Wifi voice users worldwide by 2008, with a large portion of these users being in Asia.

By integrating GIPS VoiceEngine Embedded software into its System-on-Chip platform, 5V Technologies Ltd. will offer Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) the ability to readily integrate the best voice quality available today into their VoIP and VoWLAN products.

“Innovation and differentiation of products are vital for any vendor hoping to stand out in the fray of VoIP and VoWLAN manufacturers in Asia,” says Jackson Chang, CEO at 5V Technologies Ltd. “5V Technologies is a leading fabless developer of versatile and complete system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for the broadband communications market. By integrating GIPS embedded voice processing solutions we will create the necessary differentiation for our products, as well as our customers products.”

5V Technologies is currently developing a 32-bit MCU SoC that integrates an ARM™ compliant processor core, with DSP extensions running at 300MHZ to improve performance, while leveraging GIPS VoiceEngine Embedded in the system software. Eventually, combining GIPS VoiceEngine Embedded with 5V’s SIP technology on its SoC implementations will provide versatile and complete solutions in IP phone, VoIP ATA, VoIP WLAN gateway and Wi-Fi phone applications.

VoiceEngine Embedded is a complete voice processing solution that seamlessly combines all GIPS speech processing components into a single, high-level API for integration on hardware devices. The software solves all of the complexities of voice processing in a solution that guarantees the best possible voice quality with the lowest delay. VoiceEngine Embedded combines a broad range of specialized and patented technologies, including GIPS NetEQ, an adaptive jitter buffer and error concealment module; GIPS Voice Quality Enhancement module, which eradicates echo and background noise; and GIPS comprehensive family of codecs.
