Internet Group Vastly Improves VoIP to PSTN/Cellular Calls for Clients with GIPS QoS Border Network Control

San Francisco — February 4, 2008 — Global IP Solutions (GIPS), the leading provider of media processing solutions, has been selected by iG, one of Brazil’s leading internet providers, to ensure that VoIP calls through to traditional PSTN and cellular phone lines are of the highest quality.

According to Alex Rocco, iG’s Director of Marketing, “the partnership with GIPS will help us to improve the quality of our services with BIE technology. Now we can offer our users a higher quality and the most modern service of iG’s VoIP products like the traditional PSTN, cellular phone lines and network without those QoS technical problems,” he said.

iG has integrated GIPS Border Interface Engine solution (BIE) enabling iG consumers to communicate clearly from their PCs, removing the technical and QoS difficulties inherent with a hand-off to the PSTN and cellular networks.

“With this technology we will have greater tolerance in hosted VoIP environments, such as networks with high latency, packet loss or in shared networks with NAT traversal,” declares Edson Brandi, iG Products Director.

“iG, one of Brazil’s most important internet providers strives to be the best and most complete telecommunication provider for its clients,” said GIPS’ Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Roar Hagen. “GIPS Border Interface Engine is providing iG with high-class VoIP technology allowing it to offer clients the best quality and most reliable service to over 5 million users.”

BIE is an advanced server-based transcoding and de-jittering solution that can be used in a mediation device, gateway or monitoring application. By utilizing BIE, iG is improving call quality by providing robust and delay saving algorithms closer to the border of their ISP network.
