Mobile Technika selects GIPS technology to improve voice quality for Japan’s small to medium size enterprises
Implementation in Mobby Touch softphone application drives GIPS technology into one of Asia’s largest VoIP markets

San Francisco July 27, 2006 — Mobile Technika, one of Japan’s leading manufacturers of VoIP terminal equipment, including softphones, Wi-Fi Phones, IP PBX and integrated access gateways, has selected VoiceEngine™ Multimedia from Global IP Sound (GIPS) to improve voice quality for its numerous small to medium size enterprise (SME) customers.

GIPS VoiceEngine Multimedia combines the power and proven performance of GIPS VoiceEngine with high quality video conferencing support. GIPS VoiceEngine delivers all of the necessary interfaces and components to implement Voice over IP, allowing Mobile Technika to focus on its core competencies and product development rather than the complex integration and tuning of voice processing software.

“The GIPS multimedia package has revolutionized the way we’re implementing our soft phone product,” said Toshikazu Nemoto,CEO, Mobile Technika. “It has offered us a complete framework for both video and voice soft phones, as well as advanced techniques to handle jitter, packet loss, CPU and bandwidth constraints, and most importantly, support of any voice and video standard.

“This level of sophistication means that we are able to provide the highest quality voice support for our SME customers in Japan,” continued Toshikazu Nemoto. “It’s a very competitive market, and Japanese SMEs are discerning. They demand the highest levels of voice quality, at a competitive price, and with the GIPS solution in place, we are confident that we can continue to expand on the range and quality of services we offer.”

GIPS VoiceEngine Multimedia includes a comprehensive, configurable, set of features that meet many suppliers’ requirements for a fully-fledged multimedia soft phone. Global IP Sound has pioneered the way soft phones are built
and sound, and Global IP Sound’s extensive field experience has resulted in a simplified integration process, enabling rapid time to market of high quality VoIP audio and video applications.

“Japan is one of Asia’s largest and most dynamic VoIP markets,” said John Fargis, General Manager - Asia Pacific, Global IP Sound. “To have carved out a niche in the highly competitive SME market is a remarkable feat and today Mobile Technika is one of the country’s most successful organizations in this field. I am proud of our close co-operation to make this project a success. We will partner with Mobile Technika on joint promotional efforts like co-speaking and presentation in tradeshows.

“Driving into the Japan market was a key element of our business strategy for Asia, and this is an excellent platform for continued success in the region.”

GIPS VoiceEngine Multimedia delivers the complete set of features defined in the market-leading GIPS VoiceEngine Advanced product, combined with a set of advanced video codecs. Global IP Sound has also integrated the TrueMotion VP7 codec from On2 Technologies, with the industry standards H.263/MPEG-4 and H.264 to deliver best-in-class high definition video possible.

Different automated and wizard techniques ensure that end-users such as Mobile Technika do not have to worry about jitter, packet loss, CPU, bandwidth and platforms constraints. GIPS VoiceEngine Multimedia will provide the best quality under each given condition, and no additional time-consuming 'plumbing’ development is needed.
