東洋スチレンはアジリックス技術を活用した 日本でのケミカルリサイクル設備建設段階へ入る
ポートランド, オレゴン州, アメリカ – 1月11日, 2022年 – 最も困難な使用済プラスチックをリサイクルできるテクノロジー企業であるアジリックス （ユーロネクスト成長オスロ: AGLX.OL;OTCQX:AGXXF）と、デンカ株式会社、日鉄ケミカル＆マテリアル株式会社、株式会社ダイセルの関連会社である東洋スチレン(株)は、本日、アジリックスの解重合技術によって可能になる日量10トン処理能力のケミカルリサイクル設備の建設段階に入ると発表した。
本リサイクルプラントは、使用済ポリスチレンを、東洋スチレン独自の精製プロセスを使用して精製されるスチレンモノマーに変換する。このプロセスから製造されたスチレンモノマーは、その後、バージンモノマーで作られた同様の製品よりも大幅に低いカーボンフットプリントを持つ高価値のポリスチレン製品に戻すことができる。
東洋スチレンの松下三四郎社長は「当社は、サーキュラーエコノミーの第一歩として、本事業のケミカルリサイクルプラントの建設を行い、当面はポストインダストリアル材を回収して、ケミカルリサイクル事業を開始する。」と述べ、「しかし、より広く社会の協力と賛同を得て、将来の社会全体への拡大・定着を進める為に、SDGs未来都市である千葉県市原市が取組む『市原発サーキュラーエコノミーの創造』において、市民・企業・行政が一体となったプラットフォームへの参加を予定している。」と加えた。
