Hyundai i20 rated best compact car in Germany’s Auto Bild TÜV Report 2019
- i20 has the lowest defect rate on the German market for the compact car segment
- 8.8 million general inspections were evaluated
- Result confirms Hyundai Motor’s unique quality promise
The Hyundai i20 has won the title of best compact car in Auto Bild’s TÜV Report 2019. With an average serious defect ratio of a mere 3% in Germany’s TÜV roadworthiness tests, the i20 reigns supreme in the compact car segment.
In the overall evaluation the i20 comes seventh, ahead of many other manufacturers’ models. The result is an important pointer for buyers of new and used cars because it proves the high quality standard that Hyundai requires of its vehicles. It is a standard that first and foremost pays dividends for the customer. In addition to financial security, the quality promise provides protection from breakdowns and additional visits to the workshop.
Evaluation covers 8.8 million general inspections
For the TÜV Report, Germany’s largest automotive magazine Auto Bild and the TÜV evaluated the results of 8.8 million general inspections between July 2017 and June 2018. Vehicles were grouped by age and category, such as compact cars versus sports cars, vans and SUVs or up-market limousines, petrol- and diesel-engined cars, hybrid and battery-powered, low-cost and more expensive models.
The TÜV Report distinguishes between two- and three-, four- and five-, six- and seven-, eight- and nine- and ten- and eleven-year-old vehicles. The winner in each age group is the car with the fewest serious defects. The ones with the lowest defect ratio are the Top Ten in the overall rating. At the same time Auto Bild names the most reliable cars in each individual segment.
Launched in summer 2018, the New i20 performs convincingly not only by delivering the best quality in its segment; its engines all already comply with the latest Euro 6d Temp exhaust standard that will not be mandatory for new cars until autumn 2019. So in its class the i20 leads the way not only in eco-friendly drive technology but also in comfort and safety features. Though a compact car, it is available with both the 7-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT) and the City Autonomous Emergency Braking function, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).
Comprehensive warranties underpin reliability and quality promise
The extent to which Hyundai trusts its quality promise is demonstrated by the unique warranty that the brand provides for its products. Like all new Hyundai models, the i20 is backed by Hyundai’s unique, Seven Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty package. If the vehicle is sold, the warranty is passed on to the next owner, thereby maximising its resale value, and generating peace of mind for the full warranty period.
