Gloucester Rugby Launches the Gloucester Burger!
12/10/2015 Joint News Release issued on behalf of Gloucester Rugby and Gloucester Born Beef Limited
To celebrate being a World Cup match venue, Gloucester Rugby is proud to launch The Gloucester Burger, distinctly different to any other, made entirely from locally farmed Pedigree Gloucester Cattle, the UK’s rarest breed.
Endorsed by the players, and developed to a recipe by their Performance Chef, Will Carvalho, these will be sold not only at all home matches at the newly installed Beef Shed, but will be produced to supply retailers and online across the Country.
The Burger is wholly unique. It is made of 100% Pedigree Gloucester Beef and every burger is provided a provenance code that tells the story of the animal from birth to plate.
Mike Turner, Commercial Manager at Gloucester Rugby, explains: “Kingsholm’s unique atmosphere and legendary fan base has put Gloucester on the world map. However, we are aware this is in part because of the support of many local rural communities whom we are keen to help. We believe The Gloucester Burger will put Gloucester on the culinary map, and give another reason for the County to be proud.”
The Club has signed a partnership with Gloucester Born Beef Ltd., set up by two Gloucestershire farmers, Clifford Freeman of Redmarley and Matthew Rymer of Apperley. It aims to make The Gloucester Vale home to the Country’s finest beef by applying a unique Creed to the breeding, slow rearing, slaughtering, hanging and butchering of beef, supported with totally transparent birth to plate traceability.
The Partnership will also enable rugby fans to pre-order local farmers’ farm fresh meat online for pick up at Kingsholm matches at preferential rates.
In addition, a Gloucester Rugby Burger mobile is available to cater for community events across the County.

Editors Notes: Gloucester Born Beef Limited strive to create the Country's finest beef from privately breeding, farming, slaughtering, hanging and butchering the Country's rarest cattle - The Pedigree Gloucester (Double Grade Gloucesterborn Beef).
By controlling the whole life cycle from birth to plate, each animal has enjoyed the best possible life. Only available in the Severn Vale, this is traditionally farmed local beef for local people- as it always used to be.
