Healthy-Lifestyle workshops will be held at hospitals across the country

AUGUST 15, 2012– Merchantville, NJ: In its continued efforts to bring practical resources to children affected by cancer and their families, Go4theGoal Foundation has formed a new partnership with HealthBarn USA, a proven leader of healthy-lifestyle education for children and families. The first workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, Hyde Park, NY.

The hands-on workshops are based on the new book, “Appetite for Life, The Thumbs-Up, No-Yucks Guide to Getting Your Kid to Be a Great Eater,” by Stacey Antine, MS, RD and founder of HealthBarn USA. Each workshop will be a fun, educational experience specifically designed for the needs of children and their caregivers at major pediatric cancer hospital across the country. Cooking demonstrations with some of the 100-plus delicious, nutritious recipes from Appetite for Life will be a prominent feature of every session.

HealthBarn USA has taught more than 30,000 children to eat and live healthy. “We know from working with kids with cancer and their parents that eating healthy is an important part of their immediate medical outcomes and long-term health,” said Stacey Antine, MS, RD, founder of HealthBarn USA. “Through our partnership with Go4theGoal, we will bring our unique approach outlined in Appetite for Life to families looking for a proven, how-to lifestyle resource ,” added Antine.

“As the parent of a child who battled cancer, I know first-hand how the nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices we learned from Stacey and her team have positively affected our family. Thankfully, my daughter is now healthy and has retained her good eating and lifestyle habits,” says Gina Buffa, Go4theGoal team member and mother of 11-year old Blake, a rhabdomyosarcoma survivor.

“The information that the children and their parents will acquire at the workshops need to be practiced at their homes to be successful. Appetite for Life can be used as a guide for parents to continue to keep their kids excited about eating healthy,” added Antine.
