Golden Hammer shortlist announced!

Our 26 jury members from 15 countries have finished the first part of their deliberations and announced the shortlisted works. And we are pleased to say that our shortlist is just as international as our jury, with works from 19 countries represented.

The full shortlist is available at http://goldenhammer.eu/news/shortlist-announced.

The next stage is picking and announcing the winners on Thursday 11 June, when Golden Hammer takes over Jūrmala for the day. It all starts with our conference featuring illustrious speakers Alemsah Ozturk, Simon Shaw, Thomas Lethierry D’Ennequin, Joanna Bakas, Frank Wolfram, Rafa Fortis, and, all the way from Australia, content guru Glen Condie.

We will be taking advantage of Jūrmala’s beautiful surroundings by having a picnic lunch, which you can even take down to the beach, just a few minutes from conference venue, the Jūrmala Cultural Centre. The conference concludes with a viewing of all the shortlisted works. See if you pick the same winners as the juries.

We then take a leisurely 15-minute stroll along bustling pedestrian mall Jomas iela to the Dzintari concert precinct. There will be no problem finding the gorgeous, newly restored, 1930s concert hall, in all its glory of neo-eclectic wood décor. This is where we enjoy the highlight of the day, the Golden Hammer Awards Ceremony which though, will definitely not be 1930s style. Our MC, Louis Zezeran, the Estonia-based Australian comedian, promises us a short, sharp ceremony with no drawn out formalities.

So it won’t even be dark when we finish, so there will still be time to share the sunset with a cocktail or two while you discuss the day’s events and winners with your international colleagues, who knows, we might even throw a party.

If you are heading for Jūrmala for the first time, it is just a 15-20 minute taxi ride from Rīga’s international airport and there are frequent train and mini-bus services from central Rīga. For more detailed information on the 11 June programme, see goldenhammer.eu which also has details about a discounted accommodation package.

11 June is less than two weeks away!  See you then.
