Monday, March 19, 2012 -‐ Markham, ON – This weekend, Canada’s golf superstore marks its 13th year of Canadian operations with weekend-‐long special buys and in-‐store festivities.

There’s much to commemorate: Golf Town has quickly grown 54 stores across Canada—the latest opened earlier this month in Waterloo, Ontario. One year ago, the company successfully expanded in to the U.S. market, with five simultaneous store openings in the Greater Boston area on March 24, 2011. A sixth U.S. store, in Northborough, Massachusetts, launched shortly afterwards, and a seventh location in nearby Natick, opened earlier this month.

Golf Town is widely known for its broad selection in the latest equipment, footwear, apparel and accessories from golf leaders including TaylorMade, Callaway, Nike, Ping, Cobra, Wilson Staff, Mizuno, Srixon and Cleveland. CEO Ron Hornbaker attributes the stores’ service and expertise to the company’s success.

“We’ve spread passion for the game through programs like our Green Jacket Experience, which propels our staff to give customers the best advice on equipment, apparel, club repair, fittings and lessons,” says Hornbaker.

In 2012, the company is investing heavily in the Golf Town Academy. As of January, the company hired more than 60 full-‐time Class A PGA of Canada teaching professionals to populate every Golf Town store across this country, as well as Class A PGA of America pros to service Golf Town’s seven U.S. locations. And this month, Golf Town introduces Swing Labs fitting technology—into all of its Canadian locations.

“Swing Labs fitting technology allows our knowledgeable PGA of Canada teaching professionals to fit every golfer into the best set of clubs suited to that particular individual, without any brand bias,” says Andre Cuerrier, Golf Town’s Director of Academies and Services.” Fitting is no longer about buying into a favourite brand; it’s about finding the best driver, woods and irons for each golfers unique swing characteristics.”

This weekend’s anniversary celebrations—north and south of the border—will feature daily and weekend-‐only specials. All Canadian stores will feature 13 deals for $13.13 each, as well as another chance to take advantage of the retailer’s “Buy 8 Irons, Get the 9th Free” promotion, running throughout March.
