Goodyear Wolverhampton chosen to produce next generation retreads

Goodyear’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ for retreaded truck tyres in Wolverhampton has been selected to produce retreads of the company’s latest commercial tyres, the KMax and FuelMax.

The inclusion of the KMax and FuelMax lines in retread means that the Wolverhampton factory now offers its full range of commercial vehicle tyres as moldcure retreads, which provide performance parallel to new tyres and help keep operating costs down for businesses around the country.

The tyres were launched across Europe by the company in September and were the result of intense cooperation between Goodyear’s engineers and European fleets. The Goodyear KMax range, as the name implies, has been developed for improved mileage performance, while not compromising on other important criteria such as fuel efficiency and traction. Likewise the Goodyear FuelMax range is for the operator seeking to optimise fuel efficiency combined with good mileage.

Marc Preedy, Goodyear Dunlop Commercial Director said: “Our Wolverhampton facility has always played a key role in the UK transport industry. For many years now the plant has kept truck fleets moving efficiently through state-of-the-art tyre retreading, driving down not only the environmental impact of road transport but also the operating costs of fleets. The plant has over 85 years worth of tyre production experience, when you mix this with the new technology and £6 million investment seen in the plant in recent years – the quality of retread you are able to produce is extremely high. The KMax and FuelMax now complete our range of commercial retreads and we are delighted to have been selected to produce them.”
