Gränges adopts UN Global Compact
Gränges is to adopt and implement the UN’s Global Compact sustainability initiative. By adhering to the Global Compact, Gränges supports and commits itself to operate in accordance with the ten principles of the initiative on human rights, labour law, the environment and anti-corruption. The UN’s Global Compact’s ten principles are based on the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labor Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
“We are proud to become members of the UN Global Compact. Sustainability is part of Gränges’ business strategy, and this is a way for us to show that Gränges takes sustainability issues seriously. We’re now taking the next step in our work to develop long-term sustainable operations,” says Johan Menckel, Gränges CEO.
Sustainability is an essential and fully integrated element of Gränges’ core competences and operations. By continually making our production processes more efficient, and with environmentally minded product development and concerted work on safety, Gränges contributes to a sustainable society. Gränges will publish a printed report (Communication on Progress) to the Global Compact annually, where the company will outline the steps it has taken and where progress has been made in the areas of human rights, labour law, environment, and anti-corruption.
More than 9,000 companies in more than 160 countries have joined the Global Compact. For more information about the initiative, visit: unglobalcompact.org/
