GREAT LAKES POWER TO UNVEIL NEW, STATE OF THE ART INDUSTRIAL STRADDLE CARRIER

PERRY, OH – April 26, 2012 –Great Lakes Power today announced that it will be hosting an unveiling of their new State of the Art, Industrial Straddle Carrier at its Perry, Ohio facility on May 1st with a product launch luncheon from 12:30PM to 1:30 PM. Key Great Lake Power customers, suppliers, and local dignitaries, including U.S. Representative Steven C. LaTourette will be in attendance.

Great Lakes Power’s Industrial Straddle Carrier, named the Yard Bully, is a specialized vehicle designed to lift and move steel and other heavy items within industrial facilities. The Yard Bully can lift up to 77,000 lbs, yet is extremely maneuverable at speeds approaching 25 miles per hour. The Yard Bully incorporates advanced technological features such as; four-wheel steer by wire, brake by wire, auto-sync lift, state of the art operator station ergonomics, and a Tier III engine power package.  In addition, the Yard Bully is designed to significantly improve the safety aspects of operating the vehicle while increasing the overall efficiency of the customer’s material handling requirements. Steel mills, shipyards, refineries and the U.S. Military use Industrial Straddle Carriers and Great Lakes Power has already received numerous orders for the Yard Bully throughout the world.

The Yard Bully is designed and manufactured at Great Lakes Power’s Perry facility. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate more the than three years of development that went into the Yard Bully, which resulted in the creation of the most technologically advanced straddle carrier on the market,” said Mr. Harry Allen III, Vice President of Great Lakes Power. “And, it was completely designed and manufactured right here in Northeast Ohio. We are proud of this accomplishment and want to show our appreciation to our customers, key suppliers, and employees,” he concluded.

As a result of the development of the Yard Bully, Great Lakes Power has created 6 new jobs and plans to add additional jobs as production of the Yard Bully grows.
