Stockholm, 9 June 2026 | GreenMerc subsidiary Northcrypto granted Payment Institution authorization
Northcrypto Oy ("Northcrypto"), a wholly owned subsidiary of GreenMerc AB (publ) ("GreenMerc"), has received formal approval from the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority ("FIN-FSA") for authorization as a Payment Institution.
The authorization enables Northcrypto to provide payment services in relation to Electronic Money Tokens ("EMTs").
The approval represents an important milestone in the Group’s long-term strategy to expand its service offering and payment infrastructure within a regulated framework.
Under the authorization granted by FIN-FSA, Northcrypto is permitted to provide the following payment services in relation to EMTs:
- the execution of payment transactions, including credit transfers, instant credit transfers, transfers of funds to a payment account held with the service provider, direct debits, and transactions executed through payment cards or other payment instruments; and
- the acquiring and processing of payment transactions based on agreements concluded with payees, resulting in the transfer of funds to the payee.
The authorization complements Northcrypto’s existing regulatory licenses and supports the GreenMerc Group’s long-term strategy of operating under a robust and transparent regulatory framework across both crypto-asset services and payment services.
This authorization further strengthens the Group’s ability to develop integrated payment and digital asset solutions in compliance with the evolving European regulatory landscape.
