GSF Car Parts, Leicester has given away around £3,000 worth of free car parts and repairs to deserving owners following a competition.

Production Officer and competition winner, 24-year-old Toni Ward of Anstey, Leicester won car repairs and servicing worth nearly £1,000.

Miss Ward entered the GSF Car Parts ‘Get Your Motor Running’ competition in the hope that a growing list of faults on her Volkswagen Golf GTI would be fixed, allowing her to continue to drive her mother, who suffers from cluster headaches, to and from central London for specialist treatment.

Miss Ward said: “It’s not curable and they’ve tried her on so many different medications to try and stop the pain for her but nothing has worked.

“She has to go to the neurosurgeon in London and we need my car to be reliable, we can’t miss any appointments, so it really is essential.”

Work carried out on the car included an MOT and service as well as a new clutch, starter motor, brakes and wheel bearings.

Rupesh Patel, Branch Manager at GSF Car Parts Leicester, said: “I would like to thank everyone for entering our competition and we offer our congratulations to everyone who won, please enjoy your prizes.”

The competition also saw 61-year-old Grant Lindsay of Rainsford Crescent, Leicester win over £225 worth of free car parts.

Mr Lindsay said: “I haven’t won anything in my life, it was more than a big surprise!

“They are so helpful at GSF, you can come down here even if you don’t really know the exact part you need and they’ll look it up for you.”

Salesman, 44-year-old Michael Loveridge of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire won £660 worth of parts for his Ford Mondeo after entering with alternative Bohemian Rhapsody lyrics, telling a tale of everything that was wrong with his car.

Mr Loveridge said: “I thought why not enter the competition. I was on my lunch break and I saw it come up on Facebook, Bohemian Rhapsody was on the radio and I thought it would be a good idea to re-write the words.”

Jonny West, GSF Car Parts Managing Director, said: “With so many entrants, there were some tough decisions to be made but we would like to thank everyone for entering and congratulate our competition winners, all of whom are extremely deserving.”

Mr Patel added: “As Branch Manager I am very proud of my team’s enthusiasm and attitude by striving to deliver customer service excellence by experience, knowledge and most importantly a warm welcome to each customer, new or existing.
