One lucky home mechanic has this week won around £700 worth of car parts for his 2008 Ford Mondeo, courtesy of GSF Car Parts, suppliers of car components and consumables.

The free parts include everything from oil and filters to a dual mass flywheel.

Salesman and DIY mechanic, 44-year-old Michael Loveridge of Wellingborough said: “I’m delighted to have won, completely surprised and delighted.

“I can now get a long list of things done and get my car back to where it was when I first got it, it’s my pride and joy.”

Mr Loveridge entered the GSF Car Parts competition with song lyrics, telling a modest tale about why he deserved to get his car back on the road to the tune of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody.

Mr Loveridge said: “I thought why not enter the competition. I was on my lunch break and I saw it come up on Facebook, Bohemian Rhapsody was on the radio and I thought it would be a good idea to re-write the words.”

The prize was part of a £15,000 GSF Car Parts prize giveaway, held in association with their Leicester, Leamington and Banbury stores.

The ‘Get Your Motor Running’ competition also saw 33-year-old driver, Bret Sutton from Rugby win over £550 worth of car parts for his Mercedes Benz 230e.

Mr Sutton said: “My girlfriend entered me into the competition as a birthday surprise but she never imagined that I would actually win. It’s a massive surprise, ideal timing too.”

Peter Short from Coventry, won £350 worth of parts for his Peugeot 206, which was in desperate need of repair.

Mr Short said: “The car was a bit of a wreck and, being a single dad, I couldn’t afford to get it fixed.

“I’ve got an autistic child, so the car is essential for getting him about. I’d be lost without it, so this a massive help for us.”

Jonny West, GSF Car Parts Managing Director, said: “With so many entrants, there were some tough decisions to be made but we would like to thank everyone for entering and congratulate our competition winners, all of whom are extremely deserving.”
