GSF help motorists to £15,000 of parts & repairs
Midlands’ motorists have won £15,000 worth of parts and repairs in a GSF Car Parts competition, called ‘Get Your Motor Running, which simply asked motorists to tell the UK’s largest privately owned motor factor why they deserved to win.
The competition was held in association with GSF stores in Leicester, Leamington and Banbury. Hundreds of entrants uploaded everything from song lyrics and poems to video animations, along with written requests, before 17 people were finally selected winners.
Among the deserving winners, was 24-year-old Production Officer, Toni Ward who scooped £1,000 worth of repairs and labour for her Volkswagen Golf GTI, allowing her to continue to drive her mother, who suffers from cluster headaches, to and from London for specialist treatment.
Miss Ward said: “We need my car to be reliable, we can’t miss any appointments, so it really is essential.”
30-year-old full time mum, Hayley Colburn and her Husband Matthew, won repairs and servicing for their family car worth over £600.
Mrs Colburn said: “It’s a huge help for us, especially with two demanding kids. It will give me a stress-free life for a bit and I really like our car, so I’m glad we can keep it!”
Other winners included people fitting parts themselves, with many being hobby mechanics, or owners of project cars.
33-year-old driver and DIY mechanic, Bret Sutton was particularly surprised to win over £550 worth of car parts for his classic Mercedes Benz 230e: “My girlfriend entered me into the competition as a birthday surprise but she never imagined that I would actually win.”
42-year-old Wakeboarding Coach, Kelvin Price won £1,500 worth of parts for his 1973 Volkswagen Beetle: “It was fantastic news to find out that we had won, it’s probably taken a couple of years off the project.”
