Sun shines on Leamington open evening for GSF

GSF Car Parts have hosted a successful open evening for local garages through their Leamington branch.

The event ran from 6pm to 9pm to make it easy for busy independents to come along after work; it drew a crowd of more than 70 customers on a sunny April evening in Royal Leamington Spa.

Supporting suppliers included Banner, BTN and CATACLEAN who were on hand throughout to update curious customers on the latest technology developments. And for those who’d been left hesitant at the prospect of gleaning job-useful information, there was the added draw of hospitality including a barbeque, snacks and drinks.

Visiting garages were made welcome by a strong GSF contingent too, including members of Branch Manager Steve Billings’ team as well as head office staff, managing director Jonny West, founder Stan West and members of the field-based business development team who’d been busy drumming up interest from local garages throughout April.

A prize draw on the night saw an iPad given away, as fast-growing tools and equipment brand Angry Jester also made hundreds of pounds of sales with ‘on the night only’ deals from their tool van.

“It’s always really pleasing to see people pull together to make these events successful,” said Emma Tiernan, GSF’s Regional Sales Director for the Midlands and West. “We’ve had lots of garages thanking us for an enjoyable and informative evening whilst LuK kindly took time to compliment us on the professionalism of the event as well as the high turnout.”

LuK hosted a technical seminar for garages on the DSG (direct-shift gearbox) technology that’s becoming increasingly prevalent. The transmission – which is still a cause of considerable confusion in the aftermarket – uses an electronically controlled dual-clutch manual gearbox without a conventional clutch pedal combined with automated controls.

Independents need to be directly trained by LuK, who will currently only supply approved garages. The profit opportunity is significant for garages who get involved now and GSF are actively working with LuK to grow the UK network of trained garage repairers.

GSF Car Parts say they are planning further events now the lighter evenings are upon us. Garages are advised to look out for details locally.
