Guardian Life Promotes Michael B. Cefole to Senior Vice President and Head of its Retirement Solutions Business

NEW YORK, December 6, 2010 — The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian) one of the largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits today announced that Michael B. Cefole has been promoted to Senior Vice President and head of its Retirement Solutions business , which provides retirement products and services designed specifically for small business.

Cefole previously was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Retirement Solutions business.  He joined Guardian in 2009 with more than two decades experience in financial services, both in financial and operational leadership roles.  He will report to Scott Dolfi, executive vice president, Business and Operations.

"Mike has made significant contributions to Guardian, making a noticeable impact both in financial and business matters," Dolfi said.  “He further demonstrated tremendous leadership abilities when most recently he stepped in as interim head of Retirement Solutions.  We look forward to Mike’s continued contributions as he leads the business’ ongoing growth agenda.”

Cefole joined Guardian after 18 years with Hartford Life Insurance Company. He is a graduate of the University of Hartford and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
