Guardian Life Promotes Deanna M. Mulligan To President and Chief Operating Officer

NEW YORK, October 28, 2010 –– The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (Guardian), one of the largest mutual life insurers and a leading provider of employee benefits, announced today that its Board of Directors has named Deanna M. Mulligan, 47, to the new role of President and Chief Operating Officer effective November 1, 2010.  The Guardian Board further announced its intention to appoint Ms. Mulligan Chief Executive Officer, July 1, 2011 at which time she also will become a Guardian Director. Ms. Mulligan will continue to report to Dennis J. Manning, Guardian’s current President
