Content and Analytics Expert Sunand Menon Joins GuideStar Board of Directors

Washington, DC—April 10, 2013—GuideStar today announced Sunand Menon, founder of New Media Insight, LLC, as the newest member of its board of directors. As GuideStar embarks on a new strategic vision to provide stakeholders of social change with the critical information they need to make good decisions, Sunand fills a vital role on the board with his extensive expertise in the fields of data, analytics, and media. Sunand has a deep background in developing new ventures and growth strategies for companies in a variety of sectors, such as financial services, media, and healthcare. Sunand was welcomed as the newest board member during the March 20 meeting in Washington, DC.

“Each year, approximately 10 million visitors use GuideStar’s 1.3 billion pieces of information to make important philanthropy decisions, and Sunand’s experience with data, analytics, and indices in the financial sector parallels GuideStar’s work developing new information tools for social change,” said Jacob Harold, president and CEO of GuideStar, the leading source of nonprofit information. “Sunand is an important addition to our already strong board.”

As president of New Media Insight, Sunand provides innovation advisory, venture incubation, and growth strategy services to data, media, analytics, and knowledge organizations. He served as a member of Scripps Networks' Innovation Advisory Board. As global head of new ventures at Thomson Reuters, he was responsible for incubating new information and analytics businesses. He was the founder and managing director of Thomson Reuters Indices, which he subsequently grew into a multimillion dollar global licensing and subscription business, before integrating his P&L into core Thomson Reuters Financial business. Sunand holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and an M.Sc and B.Sc in Engineering from Delft University in the Netherlands.
