Orange County Community Foundation of California Joins GuideStar DonorEdge Learning Community as 15th Member

GuideStar DonorEdge Growth Allows Expanded Connection Between Charitable Organizations and Local Donors and Funders in Communities Across the Country

Washington, D.C.—December 3, 2012—GuideStar—the leading source of nonprofit information—today announced the addition of the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF), based in Newport Beach, Calif., as the 15th member of the GuideStar DonorEdge Learning Community, a group of highly engaged community foundations that use the GuideStar DonorEdge tool to collect data directly from the nonprofits in their communities.

"For more than 20 years the organization has connected caring individuals with the causes they are passionate about, and we know that our DonorEdge platform will make that connection even more streamlined and powerful."

OCCF plans to launch the custom-branded DonorEdge database in spring 2013. “ConnectOC Nonprofit Central” will be housed on ConnectOC.org, a new website that provides residents and donors in-depth information on critical needs in the areas of basic needs like food and shelter; health and wellness; and education.

GuideStar DonorEdge is a technology and knowledge platform that enables community foundations to encourage increased charitable giving and to promote awareness of local needs and issues to donors and the community. Community foundations use GuideStar DonorEdge to vet, share, and package nonprofit information in a variety of ways. GuideStar DonorEdge Learning Community members benefit by engaging in collaborative learning exchanges, including shared resources, materials, best practices, operational strategies, and an annual meeting, in addition to regular communication and collaboration.

The addition of OCCF is a strategic alliance for the DonorEdge Learning Community. Since 1989, OCCF has worked in partnership with with generous individuals, families and business leaders to build a stronger, healthier, more vibrant community. It has awarded more than $225 million in grants to meet critical needs in Orange County, the nation, and around the world.
