The Community Foundation of Sarasota County Joins the GuideStar DonorEdge Learning Community as Newest Member
12 Community Foundations Now Use GuideStar DonorEdge Platform to Engage Funders and Collect and Distribute High-Quality Information about Local Nonprofits

Washington, DC—November 2, 2011—GuideStar, the leading source of nonprofit information, today announced the addition of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, based in Sarasota, Fla., to the GuideStar DonorEdge Learning Community (DELC), a group of highly engaged community foundations that use the GuideStar DonorEdge tool to collect data directly from the nonprofits in their communities. GuideStar DonorEdge is a technology and knowledge platform that enables community foundations to encourage increased charitable giving and to promote awareness of local needs and issues to donors and the community. Community foundations, like the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, use GuideStar DonorEdge to vet the data their local nonprofits provide, then share, present, and package that information online, in print, and in reports, presentations, and other materials.

The DonorEdge nonprofit profile contains four major areas of nonprofit effectiveness: programs, management, governance, and financials. These areas are critical to helping community foundations ensure grantmaking excellence, educate donors, and establish expertise within the community. GuideStar and the DELC partnership is a collaborative learning exchange. The partnership includes sharing of resources, materials, best practices, operational strategies, and an annual meeting, in addition to regular communication and collaboration.
